Board Duties and Responsibilities, Presented by: Howard Bufe —White Pine Ballroom. Good governance relates to consistent management of the credit union. Consistency is accomplished by defining the credit union’s strategic direction, formulating cohesive policies & procedures and providing proper guidance through adequate oversight & accountability. By identifying and incorporating the key principles that promote good governance, a credit union will be capable of creating the appropriate cultural dynamics for a productive board and CEO relationship.
A Directors Guide to Asset Liability Management, Presented by: Pierre Cardenas —Kokopelli Ballroom. This session will focus on breaking ALM down to its simplest form for non-financial professionals on the board. Giving attendees a better understanding of the things they should be looking for and the questions they should be asking.
DFI – State of Utah – An examiner’s perspective…, Presented by: Riley J. Bergsteadt —Arrowhead. This session will allow attendees an opportunity to ask questions regarding state exams and what can be expected in the upcoming year. Riley will share current issues and concerns within the credit union industry and what auditors will possibly be looking at when they perform your next exam.

Board Succession – Planning for Your Success, Presented by: Howard Bufe —Kokopelli Ballroom. Your Board of Directors is an essential component in the equation for success at your organization. You plan the strategic direction of your organization and the succession of your CEO, but do you plan for the succession of board members? This is a very new area for most boards. Not a lot of them have developed formal plans for board member succession. This session will answer your questions regarding the importance of having a succession plan for the board.
